Capturing the Spirit of Woodstock at the ‘Woodstock 50’ Event

Spread the love

For many months, there was a lot of confusion as people were wondering where the 50th anniversary of Woodstock would be held, and what the details would be. Now some of the confusion has cleared as we learn it is not one event but two to celebrate this anniversary. Details are still sparse, and official tickets are not yet on sale, but the dates and locations are now public knowledge.

Bethel Woods, the historic site of the original Woodstock event, will be hosting their Music and Culture Festival “celebrating the golden anniversary at the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival.” You can read more about this event on our earlier posts here and here, or on the Bethel Woods website.

The other big event is Woodstock 50, presented by original Woodstock co-creator Michael Lang. It will be held at Watkins Glen International, which is a racetrack located in Watkins Glen, NY at the tip of Seneca Lake. According to some whisperings online, forty or so acts appear to be booked for the event including some tributes to original performers. The artist lineup is slotted to be announced at some point this month.

You can follow Woodstock 50 directly on Facebook, Twitter,or Instagram.

Both events span the same three dates August 16-18, 2019. We’ll keep you up-to-date on ticket information and artist line-ups as they are released.
